This retreat will take place in the stunning region of Apulia in the South of Italy. The intention of this retreat is to create an intimate space in tune with the natural rhythm of nature and incorporating principles of permaculture, where you will be able to escape from the demands of the modern world in the beautiful, peaceful setting of the Valle d’Itria in Apulia, Italy, in our stunning Trullo.
Our retreat centre is set in 2.5 acres of grounds in a valley filled with olive and almond groves.
Accommodation consists of seven twin/double bedrooms all with private ensuite bathrooms and AC for the hottest summer months. Rooms are newly-renovated to a high standard using locally sourced materials, creating a luxurious yet simple and understated feel. A large outdoor courtyard will provide the main communal eating space, and several outdoor terraces offer a place to relax in the sun or the shade. Situated at the heart of the complex, the swimming pool acts like a colourful meeting point – with the blue water combining with the green olive trees and the red soil.
A trullo (plural, trulli) is a unique architectural building, made out of rough stone quarried locally and built in an overlapping way without using any mortar but just simple know how and tools. The structure is composed of walls up to one metre wide, above which a conic roof rises, covered with “chiancarelle” – large narrow stone slabs positioned in a circular fashion. This type of construction keeps the interior cool during the summer and warm in the winter.
Pilates, Yoga and Barre are well known for creating long, lean and toned muscles, a flat tummy and beautiful posture. However, the benefits go far beyond that! Along with the aesthectic benefits, these disciplines can help to ease back pain, improve bone density and boost cardiovascular endurance. No muscle group is over trained or under trained.
The instructors at Kalon have all been professional dancers and used Pilates and Yoga as a critical part of their training regimen whilst performing. Your teachers are certified instructors in these disciplines.
Combining their knowledge of dance and fitness the Kalon instructors are able to create work outs that are suitable for everyone, whether you are an athlete, recovering from injury or simply looking to tone up and improve your posture.
What better way to enjoy a class than with a view of the pool, surrounded by olive groves to the meditative sound of the crickets?
Food plays such a central role in our lifestyle and we believe passionately in healthy, nourishing and sustainably sourced ingredients. We want to reflect this in the food we serve using local produce that is grown in the region. We will be serving seasonal plant-based food cooked by our on-site chef. A selection of refreshments including tea, coffee, water & fruit are provided.
